NBT Bank Teaches Financial Literacy in Youth Programs

NBT Bank is working to make young people more knowledgeable about money matters.
NBT Bank is working to make young people more knowledgeable about money matters. The bank has a number of financial literacy programs it brings into schools.

It can tailor the presentations to specific age groups including elementary, high school and college.

NBT has even worked with the Girl Scouts.

Topics include budgeting and the responsible use of credit.

Regional President Jeff Lake says it's never too early to learn how to use money wisely.

"The whole idea is that we're working with the youth on teaching them to prepare financially, how the financial system works and their role in it," said Lake.

NBT also offers a series of special accounts and other products called iStrive aimed at those under age 24.

You can find out more information about iStrive and financial literacy at NBTBank.com.
