Lake Charles, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Former Kansas State quarterback Daniel Sams told ESPN.com he is transferring to McNeese State.
In dropping from the FBS to the FCS level, Sams will be eligible to play this season.
Sams led all Big 12 quarterbacks with 807 rushing yards and scored 11 touchdowns last season, but he was moved to wide receiver during spring practice.
As a redshirt sophomore, Sams completed 38-of-53 passes for 452 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions.
He is expected to return to quarterback at McNeese State. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
McNeese State is seeking to replace quarterback Cody Stroud, a three-year starter. The Cowboys finished 10-3 overall and in second place in the Southland Conference last year.
