Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Miami Marlins reliever Dan Jennings has a concussion after being hit in the head by a line drive during Thursday's game against Pittsburgh, the team said.
Jennings tweeted that it "seems I'm going to be ok" and the Marlins said his CT scan was negative. He will be held overnight at a hospital for observation.
Jordy Mercer's quick liner in the seventh inning gave Jennings no time to react. The ball hit the pitcher on the side of the head, knocking him to the ground before it was caught by shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria.
Jennings struggled, but got off the ground and walked a few feet before collapsing to his knees. He remained conscious, but seemed disoriented.
He was taken off the field in a cart and waved to the crowd after he received a standing ovation.
