The Spartans have won three consecutive state championships and own a 38 game winning streak, the longest in New York State.

Despite recent success, the Spartans knows teams will be gunning for them and they will have to step up their game.

The Spartans lost several key players to graduation, including veteran quarterback Kyle Gallagher and explosive running back Darnell Woolfolk.

While their is some uncertainty about the roster, the Spartans are keeping the same focused mentality that got them to all of their previous wins, one that has been passed along year after year.

"We have kind of built a culture and that's because we have great kids. The kids that are coming up have learned from the kids that have left, how to work, how to win, not to panic under pressure and all that kind of stuff. I think the more kids that we graduate like that, the younger kids see that and they know that they can do it as well," said head coach Matt Gallagher.

A big part of that future success will depend on the new face of the quarterback position, Kyle Ballmer.

Ballmer spent lots of time behind Gallagher and said Gallagher taught him well and that he is ready for the opportunity to be a leader.

"Kyle helped me tremendously last year, teaching me how to be a leader and everything that he did great, so just looking forward to it, taking over his spot and making the right reads and everything like that, just the simple things week by week and that should be it," said Ballmer.

Maine-Endwell puts their 38 game win streak to the test on the road in Week One against rival Union Endicott.
