Another student housing development under construction in downtown Binghamton is preparing to host B.U. parents this weekend.

Lofts at 22 One on Washington Street near the Forum is planning open houses to show off its three, four and five bedroom apartments. The fully-furnished spaces will have a full-sized bed, desk and dresser in each bedroom, large double door closets, new stainless steel kitchen appliances and central air. And the building retains some of its historic art deco designs in the entryway and staircase.

Nate Rood of Sall Associates says the project appeals to young professionals as well as students.

"A lot of young professionals want to live downtown now. There's a lot going on, a lot of new nightlife. Since the boom of student housing has come downtown in the last three to four years, there's a lot of bars, restaurants. There's a lot more events downtown. So, living downtown has become very appealing," said Rood.

The first set of apartments on the 3rd floor are scheduled to be ready by January 1st. The open houses run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Sall Associates has 20 years of experience managing student housing in the city and offers on-line payments and 24 hour maintenance.

The general contractor on the project is John Maczko.
