Libous Looks Ahead in 2014

New York State's Deputy Majority Leader in the Senate is looking ahead in 2014.
New York State's Deputy Majority Leader in the Senate is looking ahead in 2014.

Tom Libous says there's a lot of work to do if the State is going to adopt many of the Governor's proposals that he outlined in his State of the State address. Specifically, Libous says the legislature needs to concentrate on freezing and reducing property taxes and cutting the manufacturing tax to zero in upstate.

"That gives not only some of the leaders of companies in this room but others the money for research and development, when they don't have to pay more in taxes that's good for their companies," said Libous. "Those are the kinds of things we're going to be focused on, jobs, jobs and jobs."

Governor Andrew Cuomo presented his proposed budget address last week. The legislature is starting to look at it and will try to adopt a budget by the April 1st deadline.
