Ballymena, Northern Ireland (SportsNetwork.com) - Joakim Lagergren stumbled to a 1-over 72 on Sunday, but it was enough to give him the title at the Northern Ireland Open Challenge.
Lagergren finished at 13-under-par 271. This was his first victory on the European Challenge Tour.
The Swede started the day with a 6-stroke lead, but it started to shrink right away as he stumbled to bogeys at the first and third.
Lagergren parred six in a row from the third. He got one stroke back with a birdie on the 10th. Adrien Bernadet was one stroke back at that point, as he carded five birdies on the front nine.
After four consecutive pars from the 11th, Lagergren traded a bogey for a birdie from the 15th. He stumbled to another bogey on No. 17, but birdied the par-5 closing hole for the fourth straight day to earn the title.
Bernadet parred the final nine holes to post 5-under 66. He took second at minus-12. Bernd Ritthammer also shot 66 and he shared third place at 11-under 273 with Jerome Lando Casanova (65).
Kenneth Ferrie (67), Steven Brown (68), Charlie Ford (68) and Brandon Stone (69) tied for fifth at minus-10.
