Governor Andrew Cuomo is sending members of his cabinet across New York to re-give his budget address.
Governor Andrew Cuomo is sending members of his cabinet across New York to re-give his budget address.

Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles Barb Fiala stopped in Tioga County to let people know what the governor's proposed spending plan looks like. A few of its highlights include investments in education, a proposal to have all day pre-k and cutting manufacturing taxes. Fiala says the State's hard work over the past few years has turned a $10 billion deficit into what is projected to be a $2 billion surplus.

"Deficit hurts people. By reducing spending, this Governor is helping the people of the Southern Tier and New York," said Fiala.

Cuomo is also proposing a property tax freeze for people in municipalities that stay within the 2 percent tax increase cap and look to consolidate more services. The deadline for adopting a budget is April 1st.
