Stormteam Forecast

It will be warm and humid this Thursday with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing. While there is a slight chance for wet weather in the morning, the best chance for showers and thunderstorms will be in the afternoon.

Here are the weather headlines for the end of the week:

• Another round of showers and thundershowers is likely Thursday.
• Beyond Thursday, our chances for rain start to diminish.
• It still looks like we will see drier weather for the weekend.
• A significant warm up is likely mid next week.

The low pressure system moving through the Great Lakes is slowing up as it nears the Southern Tier. Over the next couple of days, it will gradually fall apart.

However, it will still have the ability to produce showers and thunderstorms Thursday as it moves ever closer to us. Some of the showers and storms will have heavy rain. The most likely time is during the afternoon.

We’ll start to notice the effects of the weakening weather system on Friday. While some showers are likely Friday, the rain Friday should not be nearly has heavy, nor as widespread.

On Saturday, there will be little left to convert the moisture in the air over to rain. In fact, several thousand feet up, dry air from New England will slowly push westward over us. There is a good chance that we’ll see some sunshine Saturday breaking through the clouds.

Beyond Saturday, dry weather is likely well into the start of next week. Temperatures for Sunday and Monday should be right about average for this time of year, upper 70s. Then early next week, warmer air will move in and our afternoon temperatures should start climbing through the 80s.

Our next chance for showers and storms will come during the middle of next week as a cold front approaches New York state.
