A local charity is turning Rec Park in Binghamton into a giant Easter basket this Saturday. The Children's Charity of Greater Binghamton is hosting its second annual free Easter Egg Hunt.

10,000 plastic eggs will be left around the park filled with candy and other prizes.

The hunt will be separated into three zones: one for children three and under, another for kids four to seven and a third for eight to 10.

There will be tickets for Binghamton Senators games, Animal Adventure and others that can be exchanged for sports equipment of toys.

Children's Charity President Jim Worhach says the community has been very generous donating candy.

"Today, in this economy, a lot of times parents aren't able to provide those extra things that boost a child's self esteem and make them feel good and help them really enjoy their youth. And we're hoping that, by helping to provide those events, that will help those kids know that the community truly cares about them," said Worhach.

All three hunts begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Before, during and after, Mirabito Convenience Stores and Tim Horton's will be providing free food and drinks.

The entire event is free to the entire community.
