Court declares Jones has enough signatures to get on ballot

A State Supreme Court in Albany has finished recounting the petition signatures of Denver Jones who is seeking to primary Republican Tom Libous.
Binghamton (WIVT) - We're one step closer to having a primary in the race for the 52nd state senate district seat.

A State Supreme Court in Albany has finished recounting the petition signatures of Denver Jones who is seeking to primary Republican Tom Libous.

As of now, Jones has 1,019 signatures, enough to get on the ballot.

Jones lives in Candor and co-owns an electronics manufacturing company in Ithaca.

Republicans opposing Jones can appeal to the state's highest court, the Court of Appeals.

There is no word if the court will consider taking the case.

As of early this afternoon, Jones' attorney, Douglas Drazen, told us he hadn't been contacted by the court of appeals.

The primary is less than two weeks away.
