City of Binghamton Accepting Letters of Interest for One Seat on the Commission on Architecture and Urban Design

From the City of Binghamton:

The City of Binghamton is now accepting letters of interest in order to fill a vacant seat on the Commission on Architecture and Urban Design (CAUD), which also serves as the Historic Preservation Commission.

CAUD, which is made up of seven members appointed by Mayor Rich David, is charged with design review for projects on City property and/or using City funds. The Commission also serves as the City’s Historic Preservation Commission. CAUD members are responsible for designating historic properties as well as reviewing and approving exterior modifications to designated historic buildings. CAUD also serves as an advisory body to the City Council, the Planning Commission, and the Zoning Board of Appeals.

The City is seeking community-minded volunteers who can commit to attending one meeting per month. CAUD meetings are on the last Tuesday of the month, starting at 12:00pm. There are no specific education requirements for appointment to CAUD, but some knowledge of architecture, urban design, and/or historic preservation is preferred.

Commission members must reside in the City of Binghamton. Those wishing to be considered for appointment should submit a letter of interest and statement of qualifications by February 14th to:

Department of Planning, Housing,
and Community Development
4th Floor City Hall
