Kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton Summer camp are showing support for one of their own.

This year's camp shirts, which they all wore to the B-Mets game at NYSEG Stadium yesterday, include a ribbon with the words "Sarcoma Awareness for Maddie."

Maddie Shaw, 9, of Binghamton, who has attended the Summer camp in previous years, was diagnosed over the Winter with Ewing's Sarcoma, a particularly aggressive form of childhood cancer.

"You get to really know the kids. It's almost like they become part of your family. When any of them has any issues, like become sick, you take it personally and you want to help them as much as you can. And you want to make sure that they know that they have our support," said unit director Rob Sostre.

Maddie recently had successful surgery at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and returned home last Friday.

When she did, she found her bedroom had been redesigned by the local organization A Room To Heal.
