Binghamton (WIVT/CNN) - Apple has announced a new in-car entertainment system called CarPlay which will be available with a number of major automakers.

CarPlay will allow drivers to access their music libraries, makes calls, listen to and dictate text messages and more via a touch screen and buttons on the steering wheel.

Popular services such as Google Maps, Spotify and Apple's voice command program Siri will also be accessible via CarPlay.

Ferrari, Volvo, and Mercedes-Benz will the first car companies to offer this service in their vehicles. GM, BMW, Honda, Hyundai, and Toyota will offer the service “down the road” – according to Apple.
