Amphenol Grand Opening

Delaware County's largest employer is expected to cut the ribbon on its new facility over the next month or two.
Delaware County's largest employer is expected to cut the ribbon on its new facility over the next month or two.

Amphenol broke ground last spring on its site near the K-Mart in Sidney, along Delaware Street, which is on high ground. Amphenol's former facility flooded both in 2006 and 2011. After the flood three years ago, New York State and the federal government stepped up and committed millions upon millions of dollars to help Amphenol build a new facility. The company makes interconnect parts for companies all over the world, including the military. The Village of Sidney's Mayor Andy Matviak says having Amphenol remain was a humungous step in helping the village's future revitalization and recovery efforts.

Village of Sidney Mayor Andy Matviak says, "We're a community, the village is 3,900 people, the town of Sidney is only 7,500 people, to have a thousand employees with the potential of losing that would have been devastating to our area. But, we worked very hard to keep that."

Numerous dignitaries are expected to attend the grand-opening.
