Afton Fair Celebrates 125th Anniversary

The 125th annual Afton Fair is underway.
The 125th annual Afton Fair is underway.

Organizers say it's one of the last remaining town fairs in the state.

To celebrate the anniversary, the Afton Fair has brought back Midway rides with the touring Gillette show.

There's also livestock shows featuring dairy cows and small animal pens, plus lots of racing.

Wednesday started with a community parade and fireworks.

Last night there was a rodeo.

"It's a hometown fair. It's small. We've got a good variety of stuff for them to see. A great midway with the Gillette shows," said president John Niles.

The racing runs the gamut from equestrian to automotive.

Harness racing yesterday and a speedway racing tonight.

Tomorrow, there will extra kids games and bike giveaways plus a street truck pull.

Admission to the fair is $3 plus separate admission to the grandstand. The fair runs through 10 p.m. tomorrow.
