Color Run on SUNY Broome Campus

Thanks to a successful online voting effort, Greater Binghamton has been selected to host the happiest 5K on the planet.

The Color Run will bring its new Kaleidescope Tour to town next April as a benefit for the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier. The run will take place on and adjacent to the SUNY Broome campus. The 5K is best known for dousing its runners with colored corn starch every kilometer. With no winners and no official times, The Color Run stresses healthiness, happiness and individuality.

Joanne Weir of the Mental Health Association says the celebration of all abilities is a perfect fit for her organization.

"This is a way to experience something where you see all of the colors. It's just a beautiful thing, there's no down side. It's so much fun. I've seen it in action. People will have a ball doing this," said Weir.

The run will take place on Sunday April 6th at SUNY Broome. Registration is currently limited to 5 thousand participants and almost a thousand have already signed up. To register, go to TheColorRun.com/binghamton.
