Binghamton University's Physical Facilities Department is helping out Broome County Toys for Tots.

Employees presented the organization with a check for $3,700 and a table full of toys, recently. The money and gifts are raised at an annual memorial golf tournament in October for a former B.U. employee. Workers say they're glad to help out.

Binghamton Police Sergeant Steve Ward who heads up Toys for Tots, says the generous donation will help make Christmas special for many children this year.

"Every year they present me a check and it really helps me get things going. It helps me buy more toys and gets me started for the season every year," said Sgt. Ward.

"It makes us feel good that we're doing something to help out and we try to do as much as we can. It has been a little tougher this year. Last year, we had a little more money to donate, but this year we still had money to give to him and lots of toys," said Sherri Hall.

Sergeant Ward encourages all families that can afford it to donate a toy to the organization. Signups for underprivileged families begins next week.
