Broome County Food Drive Results

The Broome County food collection drive was a success.
The Broome County food collection drive was a success.

Five large barrels of nonperishable food items were collected at facilities around the County. County employees and visitors to County-owned facilities also donated $600, which has been given to Catholic Charities to help it operate its food pantry.

This was the second year of the drive. As an added incentive to give, anyone who made a donation was entered into a drawing for Binghamton Senators tickets. Jerry Marinich is Chairman of the Broome County Legislature.

"It is a tough time of year. Everyone gets asked from different angles to contribute to help here and everyone wants to help in anyway they can. To see that we got five full barrels of food, I thought was very encouraging and to see that we surpassed last year's monetary goal, I thought that was good too," said Marinich.

Last year, the drive collected $400 for CHOW.
