Broome County Competing for State Casino License at Traditions

From Traditions at the Glen:

With the passage of the statewide referendum permitting Casino gambling in New York in November’s election, voters presented business leaders of the Southern Tier with an important opportunity to improve the area’s economic future.

“Traditions at The Glen will compete to obtain the new license to be issued to the Southern Tier Region by the state,” William Walsh, owner of Traditions at The Glen said. “We have assembled a first-rate team to help us achieve our goal; we have the financial depth, the professional experience and deep ties and commitment to our community, as well as strong support, to see us through to the end.”

One casino gaming license will be awarded in the Southern Tier zone, which includes the Counties of Broome, Seneca, Tioga, Tompkins, Chemung, Schuyler, and Wayne.

For nearly 100 years, Traditions at The Glen has been a vital part of the community.

The facility that is now known as Traditions at the Glen has undergone many changes over its history, beginning first as a private home, and eventually becoming a private resort and country club just for IBM employees. From a corporate training center to a resort, golf course and banquet center available to the public, Traditions at The Glen has become a vital part of Broome County.

A VIP, Invite-Only event was held Nov. 14 to kick off the effort.
