It was a day to honor those who served at parades and ceremonies across our area.

The annual Binghamton Veterans Day Parade took place this afternoon, beginning at American Legion Post 80 on Main Street and processing to the All Wars Memorial outside of the Arena. The color guards of the American Legion and VFW Post 478 were joined by the American Legion Riders, FMK Karate and the Penn Dixie Band.

"Our men and women on active duty today are putting their lives at risk every day. Whether it's guarding our embassies, conducting humanitarian operations. We owe them an enormous amount of debt," said Brian Vojtisek.

Vojtisek says many of the marchers in the parade are getting older and that it's time more younger veterans dusted off their uniforms and helped to carry the colors. Next week, his agency plans to unveil new exhibits inside and outside of the Veterans Memorial Arena.
