Binghamton Mets Season of Giving

The Binghamton Mets are boasting the largest lit fresh cut Christmas tree in the area.
The Binghamton Mets are boasting the largest lit fresh cut Christmas tree in the area. The B-Mets will be lighting the 40 foot tree from Molyneaux tree farm Friday night at 6.

It's part of the team's Season of Giving campaign in which it plans to donate 20 percent of all its merchandise sales over the course of the next four weekends. Each Thursday, Friday and Saturday the donations will benefit a different local charity, 12 in all.

The B-Mets' Connor Gates says the On Deck store has all kinds of sports stuff.

"Not just Mets fans, but Yankee fans. We have New York Giants, Jets, Bills. We have a lot of different merchandise. We think you can find something for just about anyone here," said Gates.

Tomorrow's tree lighting ceremony runs from 6 to 8. The first 100 kids get a free gift. On Saturday, the team will hold a toy drive for Broome County Toys for Tots from 10 to 6, where fans get two game tickets in exchange for a toy. And the Grinch will be on hand from noon to 2.
