SU advances after defeating W. Michigan 77-53; will face Dayton on Saturday

Buffalo (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse University has advanced in the NCAA Tournament in dominating fashion after defeating Western Michigan 77-53 on Thursday.

The No. 3 seed Orange were led by sophomore guard Trevor Cooney, who scored 18 points while going 4 of 8 from three-point range.

Senior C.J. Fair was big for the Orange in the paint, grabbing 11 rebounds. Fair also pitched in 14 points in the victory.

Freshman forward Tucker Haymond led the Broncos with 11 points in a losing effort.

Up next, SU will play No. 11 seed Dayton on Saturday after the Flyers upset No. 6 seed Ohio State.

Tip-off time is set for 7:10 p.m. and the game will air on TBS.
