Several members of the men's U.S. short track speed skating team started their careers with inline skating. The bond that has remained strong over the years and now has the guys gearing up for gold in Russia.

Individually, they'll compete against one another, but together there's a strong connection on the men's U.S. short track speed skating team.

"We're all from the inline worlds, we've known each since we were 11 years old, so it's nice to have that chemistry going into the Olympic Games.”

Their inline background offers the burst needed to take top honors this year, both individually and collectively

"The guy’s team is fantastic. They have a shot at gold in the relay.”

I don’t want to make assumptions or predictions but we have great chemistry and we'll definitely be a force to be reckoned with.

A common misconception is that speed skating relies solely on speed, but that's not entirely the case. This group of guys says their 'strength' may actually surprise some people.

"In the summer we train up to 8 hours a day, 4 hours on bikes. People don't know what's under the skin suit, but we're machines out there."
