Maine-Endwell's strong season comes to an end with loss to Ardsley

ENDWELL, N.Y. - For the Maine-Endwell boy's team, their terrific season came to an end on Tuesday.

They fell to Ardsley 59-41 in the Class A Sub-regionals.

Spartans head coach Bill Ocker said afterwards that the loss hurt, especially for his three seniors, Cody Petro, Tyree Brodley, and Sam Nesmith.

Cody poured in 23 points in this one.

Ocker was quick to praise Petro's effort, saying that he saw a man and someone who belonged.

He also gave some insight as to what he told the team after the game.

"I just told them they should be really proud. From where they came from, in a maturity standpoint, as freshmen and sophomores. The last couple years on the varsity, not qualifying and battling through all the different things that they did," said Ocker.

The Spartans certainly have nothing to hang their heads about.

Although it ended sooner than they would've liked, the seniors, especially, can always reminisce on the fact that they brought a section championship back to M-E, the program's first since 2013.
