High school football rankings include many Section IV teams

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - High school football has hit the midway point on the season.

The most-recent New York state rankings were released on Wednesday, and there were plenty of Section IV teams that made the list.

There were no Section IV teams in the top 25 in Class AA, so we begin with Class A.

Section 8's Garden City leading the charge in the class.

The lone Section IV rep is Union-Endicott, sitting now at 11th with a 5-0 record.

Now to Class B, and Section IV is well represented here.

The head of the table is #2 Chenango Forks, boasting a 5-0 record.

Then at #20 we have Susquehanna Valley.

They're 4-1 on the year, with one of those wins coming over the last Section IV team here, Norwich.

The Purple Tornado find themselves in the same spot they were a week ago, #24.

In Class C, two teams here, including the #1 team in the state, Newark Valley.

The team that made the biggest jump in the rankings this week was #14 Lansing, moving up five spots.

Lastly, to the heavily populated Class D.

Once again, we see a #1 for Section IV, and it's the Sidney Warriors.

They make the move to the top spot this week.

Three more teams crack the top 20 in Class D.

Deposit/Hancock comes in at #12, Tioga ranks 14th, and Elmira Notre Dame moves up to #18.

Now let's take a look at the Section IV games coming up this weekend.

Busy Friday night. Some of the games include a huge Class B match-up between #24 Norwich and #2 Chenango Forks, that one at Norwich.
