BINGHAMTON - Despite it only being February 8th, the spring sports season is almost upon us.
The Binghamton University men's and women's lacrosse teams open up their season this weekend.
The men head to the Carrier Dome to take on #11 Syracuse, while the women play a neutral-site game against Fresno State at La Salle University.
On Thursday, the two teams held their media day.
We heard from both head coaches as well as some players from both teams.
The general consensus seems to be excitement and optimism.
"We're super excited to get things rolling on Sunday. This year, returning a lot of veterans with experience and leadership out on the field. But, just as exciting, some fresh faces out on the field that I think are adding a lot of depth and talent to what we already are returning this season," said women's coach Stephanie Allen.
"We've got a lot of new guys with a lot of new prominent roles. People are stepping up, obviously it takes a little bit of time. But we're taking every day, every practice, every game one step at a time. Everything's all business this year," said Bearcats Senior Attack Tom McAndrew.
And it's going to have to be all business for both teams this year as we look at their schedules.
Difficult road games for the men.
At #11 Syracuse, at Cornell, and at #3 Albany.
As for the women, their schedule isn't any easier.
They will travel to face the National runner-ups from last year, #6 Boston College.
They host Ohio State, as well as #14 Cornell and #2 Stony Brook.
