Binghamton High School football team prepares to defend Section IV title

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - With summer beginning to dwindle away, it's almost that time of the year again.

That's right kids, back to school! But while many are still enjoying the final weeks of summer vacation, student athletes are back at it already.

I traveled down to Binghamton Alumni Stadium on Wednesday to get a look at the Binghamton High School football team, and their preparations for the upcoming season.

The Patriots are preparing to defend their Section IV title from a year ago, and the expectations are not only to repeat, but to continue to build off of it. Many of the players I spoke with have their sights set on states this year.

Despite being a relatively young team this season, everyone seems to be getting on the same page and based on how their preseason workouts have been going, head coach Michael Ramil is very optimistic of this years aspirations.

"We had a really good offseason. The kids want to compete, they realize a lot's at stake, they have to defend the Section IV championship. So, again that competitiveness to them will hopefully pay out," said Ramil.

The Binghamton High School football team has two scrimmages this week against Christian Brothers Academy and Cicero-North Syracuse before opening up their regular season next Friday September 1 at Liverpool High School.
