The Patriots won the Section IV Class AA title in 2012 but then found themselves in a similar boat to several other teams in 2013, teams who found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard against an Elmira team that went from a .500 season in 2012 to running the tables in the regular season en route to a run that took them to the State Semifinals last year.
While the Patriots had a pretty successful season by most standards, finishing at 7-3, they have a bitter taste in their mouths after last season and are looking for revenge against the Express and a return to the state playoffs.
Like many schools, the Patriots roster is much different than last year, but head Coach Mike Ramil says this year's squad has special qualities that he hopes will put points on the scoreboard and wins in the standings.
"We are very athletic, we've got a lot of returners who play receiver or running back or corner or even the quarterback position. We've got a lot of young offensive lineman and defensive lineman so that's the biggest area where we are trying to make a quick transition," said head coach Mike Ramil.
Binghamton opens the season on the road September 5 against the Norwich Purple Tornadoes.
