Bearcats top Black Knights 71-66 to win fifth straight

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Big game on the campus of Binghamton University on Wednesday evening as the Bearcats men's basketball team welcomed in the Army Black Knights.

B.U. comes in winners of their last four games, while Army boasts a 5-2 overall record.

Bearcats head coach Tommy Dempsey said yesterday that this Black Knights team may be the best his team has faced so far this season. Let's see if he was right.

There's something a little extra special about the National Anthem when you have a service academy in town.

It was a big first half for that man, Thomas Bruce.

He set a new career-high in blocks with 5 in the half!

He finished with 6 total as well as 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Army hung around the entire night.

They got strong performances from Alex King, who finished with 15 points, as well as Jordan Fox, who ended with 13.

But the Bearcats were too much for the Black Knights.

J.C. Show led the way in scoring for B.U., posting 16 points as Binghamton wins their fifth-straight, beating Army 71-66.

Afterwards, I asked coach Dempsey how his team was able to shut down an Army offense that averages 83 a game.

"We use the term 'connected' a lot, kind of on a daily basis. We're going to stay connected in a lot of different aspects of the program. We're very connected on defense right now. I think we're forcing, for the most part, teams into contested shots, especially in big spots," said Dempsey.

The Bearcats will look for win number six in a row on Saturday when they travel to Baltimore to take on Loyola.

Game time is 4:00 PM.
