Rescue Mission Debuts Freeze Out 5K to End Homelessness

On Saturday, February 1st Rescue Mission Whitney Place will host its first ever Freeze Out 5K at 10 a.m. on the SUNY Broome Community College campus. The 5K is neon themed and runners/walkers will endure the wintery elements to help raise funds to end homelessness this winter in Broome County. The 5K will be timed and the course is USATF certified. Participant bravery will be rewarded post-race in the West Gym of SUNY Broome to warm up with breakfast refreshments, warm coffee and cocoa, and entertainment by Rich Birdsall as the DJ from the Hawk WHWK radio station. Our presenting sponsor is Empower Credit Union, other sponsors include: Lourdes Memorial Hospital, Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health Services, Lalor Dental, Visions Federal Credit Union, and Dr. Nicholas Chiropractic.

All proceeds from the event will provide programs and services to men experiencing homelessness.
