North Syracuse native to call Monday Night Football opener

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A North Syracuse native will be in the spotlight on ESPN next fall when she calls ESPN’s Monday Night Football double header.

Beth Mowins – who also earned her master’s degree at Syracuse University – will serve as the play-by-play announcer alongside analyst and former Buffalo Bills and New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan.

You’ll be able to hear Mowins call the game on Sept. 11 at 10:15 p.m. when the Los Angeles Chargers kick off against the Denver Broncos.

Mowins’ local roots extend to Homer, where she served as news and sports director at WXHC.

Mowins is only the second female play-by-play announcer in NFL regular season history.
