If you love spiedies, and you love to eat a lot of them fast, you have a chance to take on some world-champion competitors.

Major League Eating, the sanctioning body for competitive eating, is putting on the first-ever chicken spiedie eating competition featuring world champion and top-ranked eater Joey Chestnut.

The contest, featuring other major league eaters, will take place on Saturday July 26th at Tioga Downs.

A local competitor has the chance to gain a spot at a qualifier being held next Friday at NYSEG Stadium prior to the B-Mets game.

Local contestants will have 10 minutes to eat as many Lupo's chicken spiedies as they can.

"Everybody always asks us, 'Why aren't spiedies outside the area?' This will be a great opportunity to really get national coverage. Not only for Lupo's as the presenting sponsor, but anybody who has anything to do with spiedies in Broome County," said Sam Lupo.

To participate in the qualifier, contestants must fill out a registration form that can be found at Up to 12 participants will be selected.

Lupo says attaching a video of yourself eating may help your cause.
