SIDNEY, N.Y. - ACCO Brands representatives welcomed executives from Walmart for a check-in on an initiative that helped add jobs to its facility in Sidney.
Walmart and ACCO Brands execs took a tour of the manufacturing and distribution center in Sidney this morning.
In 2013, Walmart announced it would buy back $250 billion in products that were made overseas to have them manufactured here in America.
Walmart chose ACCO to produce its planners and calendars, which created 15 new jobs at the Sidney plant to keep up with demand.
ACCO Brands Senior Vice President of Sales Sal Testani says it's a win-win for both companies.
"Walmart recognizes the fact that our plants and facilities have a tremendous economic impact in all of those communities. Good paying jobs means more people spending money at those Walmart stores so it self-perpetuates itself. It's a tremendous strategy," said Testani.
ACCO Brands business planning products are distributed to 4,500 Walmart stores nationwide.
Fifty jobs in all were created at three ACCO Brands plants, including the one in Sidney.
Walmart will have its $250 billion Buy American investment fully implemented by 2023.
