ENDICOTT, N.Y. - Big news in the golf world Friday as former World #1 Vijay Singh dual-committed to the Dick's Sporting Goods Open and the Greenbrier Classic.
Severe flooding in West Virginia has left the status of the Greenbrier Classic up in the air so Singh committed to the Dick's Open field to protect himself.
It is assumed that Singh will play here at En-Joie if the Greenbrier is indeed canceled.
This would be Singh's first time playing in the event.
Tournament Director John Karedes says the addition of Singh would make an already solid field, that includes 25 of the top 30 on last year's money list, even better.
"It would be terrific to add another World Golf Hall of Fame member but also a player with such stature as Vijay who has never played the Dick's Sporting Goods Open or the B.C. Open. Having his first trip to the En-Joie Golf Course on our 10th year anniversary, something exciting, something additional to add to John Daly arrival," said Karedes.
The PGA Tour will make an official decision on the Greenbrier sometime next week.
