Construction along Prospect Mountain is revving up again. Work to replace bridges and upgrade Route 17 to an interstate was shutdown late last year because of the harsh winter.

The biggest change will be that traffic will be redirected onto new 17 east and westbound bridges in May and June. Driving patterns will basically stay the same though. All exits will also remain the same for the season.

Department of Transportation Regional Director Jack Williams asks people to use extra caution in the area because it will be an active work zone.

"The biggest changes they can see is that work is going to start happening again. Every once in a while we'll have lane closures within our work zone. They're going to see our workers that are close to adjacent travel lanes. That will be very important for them to pay attention," said Williams.

In the middle of the construction season, the 17 eastbound ramp onto Interstate 81 northbound will be closed. Traffic will be detoured onto Front St. and then drivers can get back on 81 in the Town of Dickinson.
