Union-Endicott High School is fully closed for the summer as the district works to remove asbestos from the building.

The project involves removing asbestos-based ceiling tiles in various parts of the building, including classrooms, the weight room and the laundry room.

The athletics portion of the building has already been sealed off.

The asbestos abatement is part of a capital project that district voters approved last December.

Summer school, high school offices and guidance counselors have been temporarily relocated to Jennie F. Snapp Middle School.

The project is expected to be finished early next month.
