Two projects approved to help Endicott's flooding defense

- New York State has approved two projects that will help Endicott's wastewater treatment plant and pump stations better weather future flooding.

The village is taking steps to limit the impact water has on its infrastructure.

While its treatment plant significantly flooded in 2011, even when just two inches of rain falls it can have problems.

Endicott also said having a back-up generator at its main water pump station near Union-Endicott High School is vital.

The state has signed off on the work and will be submitting its approval to the federal government, which is expected to award flood mitigation grant money.
