The Town of Union will be hosting a 2014 Colors of Freedom Walk and Run on July 4th.

The 5K event is non-competitive and will feature participants being sprayed with red and blue powder on their race issued white shirts, if you choose to be, of course.

It will start at Highland Park in Endwell, which is where the annual 4th of July extravaganza occurs each year and features vendors, a chicken barbecue, music and fireworks.

Rose Sotak is the Town of Union Supervisor.

"What's exciting about it is that we're going to have some young people here singing the national anthem and then we're going to have the National Guard, which will have a flag that is going to start the runners off," said Sotak.

Cost per person is $25 or $60 for a family of four.

The race will begin 9 a.m. on July 4th.
