Usually the agency hosts lunches on weekdays. However, twice a month it provides dinner for people living in the county. In addition to the traditional Irish food there was a Irish folk singer.
Rachel Mischler says, "It's just so great to see people come out, especially in the cold weather like today and have a good time."
Staff members from several legislators offices attended the dinner. Tioga Opportunities and the Southern Tier Dietetic Association also took the chance to highlight the need for funding for programs that provide healthy nutrition to older adults, especially those who are in financial need or lonely.
Jennifer Vallone says, "We are here, the registered dietitian is here to provide meals like this, to help with nutrition policy and help enforce and enhance congregate meal programs for people who need the balanced meals."
