The Discover Center holds 'Fun Run' to raise money for after school program

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Lace up your sneakers and get ready to run - or walk, if you prefer.

The Discovery Center is holding its second annual Discovery Kids Fun Run on Saturday April 29th.

The run raises money for the center's Kids Club after school program.

It takes place in the Story Garden and the hiking trails of Ross Park on the hill behind the Discovery Center.

Kids Club Lead Teacher Amanda Florance says the elementary school-age kids take an active role in planning and promoting the event, even forming a committee with a president and a CEO.

"Enjoying walking, exercising, healthy snacks will be included.  You get a T-shirt, obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, there's something for everybody here.  That's what we try to promote, activities for all," said Florance.

The Fun Run starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday April 29th.

Advance registration is $15 for everyone 3 and up, and can be done at TheDiscoveryCenter.org.

Day-of registration is $20.
