Syracuse lighting & electrical company expands into Greater Binghamton

JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. - A lighting and electrical company from Syracuse is expanding into Greater Binghamton.

Edward Joy Electric has opened a store at the Valley Plaza in Johnson City in the former Friedman Electric location.

The family-owned business began in 1875.

It claims to already have the largest lighting and LED showroom in Upstate New York.

It sells a wide variety of lamps and fixtures as well as parts for commercial electricians.

Manager Brandon Turner says the JC location is capable of providing all of the services offered at the Syracuse store.

"We're a family owned company, but we like to strive for customer service so that we put the customer first no matter what. We support and give as many services as we can to make sure they are satisfied with any lighting and electrical needs they have," said Turner.

Edward Joy also sells some furniture and home decor items.

The store recently held a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration featuring Gance's Catering, raffle prizes, t-shirts, and store discounts.
