The home of the Hornets is competing in the second annual SUNY wide mascot competition. We told you the other night that B.U.'s Baxter is in contention, well so is Stinger. Brett Carter, Athletic Director at Broome, says that with the new dorms being built on campus, he's expecting a boost in school spirit.
Brett Carter says, "Our student athletes love it when Stinger shows up and when fans come on, cheer them on. It really helps with student pride, athlete pride and we look forward to good things in the future."
The competition is loosely based on March Madness with a bracket-style single elimination format. Each mascot depends on support from both the student body and the community through social media. Fans can go to sunybroome.edu or suny.edu for a link to the voting.
