The Broome County Sheriff's Office is cracking down on drivers using their mobile phones.

As part of Distracted Driving Awareness Month, Sheriff's Deputies targeted people using electronic devices while behind the wheel from April 10th through the 15th.

Of the 75 tickets issued, 35 were for talking on the phone, 12 were for texting and the remaining 28 were for a variety of other traffic violations.

The Sheriff's Office says drivers using hand-held phones are four times as likely to cause a crash as other drivers.
