Broome County Sheriff David Harder is running for a fifth term. He made the announcement at Brothers 2 Restaurant in Endwell last night before a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters.

This is Harder's 16th year as the county's top police official. He says he loves serving the citizens and the job. Harder says his accomplishments include keeping the Sheriff's Office up to date with technology and financially sound.

"I've saved money for the residents of Broome County. We've done what we could. We've cut here and there. You'll find over the past 16 years we've always been in the black, given money back," said Harder. "We've done everything we possibly can do to save taxpayers, but give them a good service at the same time."

A Democratic challenger has not come forward yet.
