OWEGO, N.Y. - Sanmina is laying off hundreds of employees as it plans to close its Owego manufacturing facility early next year.
Last week, the company announced it would be closing its manufacturing facility located at 1,200 Taylor Road in the Town of Owego in March.
The facility produces printed circuit boards that are used in globally produced electronics.
Fifty temporary workers were let go last Thursday and around 274 permanent employees were given a three month termination notice ending March 7.
Sanmina's Owego plant has seen a steady decline of jobs over the past 12 years, going from 1,400 employees in 2005 to closing its doors.
