Roscoe, Ommegang win inaugural Taste New York Craft Beer Challenge

NEW YORK CITY - Two breweries within easy driving distance of our area have been named co-winners of the Taste New York Craft Beer Challenge.

Roscoe New York Beer Company, located about 65 miles east of Binghamton on Route 17, and Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, were declared the winners in a tie Wednesday during a blind taste test among a panel of judges in New York City.

Roscoe is known for its Trout Town beer and boasts 10 varieties.

Ommegang brews mostly Belgian style beers and hosts concerts and festivals throughout the year.

The remaining finalists were Prison City Pub and Brewery in Auburn, Southern Tier Brewing Company in Lakewood and Genesee Brewing Company in Rochester.
