Another local defense contractor is in line to assist with the new fleet of presidential helicopters.

Rockwell Collins in the Town of Union has been selected by Sikorsky Aircraft to design simulators for the new VH-92 Marine helicopter that will carry the Commander in Chief.

Lockheed Martin in Owego has already been announced as the designer and producer of all of the chopper's on-board electronic control systems.

Site Manager Bob Wuestner says the simulators will be made at Rockwell's Choconut Center facility.

"It's a huge accomplishment for this operation, for this location. To be able to work directly with Sikorsky Aircraft and Lockheed Martin is going to be a huge benefit to this region and area," said Wuestner.

Wuestner says the Rockwell plant's close proximity to Lockheed's facility in Owego will make collaborating on the project easier.
