In-depth street reconstruction on Riverside Drive will begin next month.

Mayor Rich David says the work will stretch from Front to Beethoven.

It will include digging up the area and putting down new blacktop, sidewalks, curbs and water, sewer and sanitary lines.

The full cost is pegged at about $2.5 million.

Meanwhile, from Beethoven to the Johnson City village line, some paving and road repair work will be done this year.

David says he is speeding up the timeline and doing more in-depth work than what was agreed upon last year before he took office.

"What I've chosen to do is invest more money in Riverside Drive and get it done in a two year period instead of three and instead of just milling and paving and putting a band-aid on it, we're going to do a full reconstruction because that's what I think this roadway deserves," said David.

Next year, reconstruction work will be done on Riverside Drive from Beethoven to the J.C. line.
