The Gorgeous Washington Street Association will be hosting a fundraiser tomorrow night to help raise money to buy Christmas lights for downtown Binghamton.
Kim DeLisa is the Chairwoman of the GWSA and owns Orion Beauty and Balance downtown. She says the the association decided it needed to take steps to make downtown more attractive during the holiday season.
"As you might remember, last year we didn't have much of any kind of lighting in the downtown. People were dismayed about that, because a dark city does not allow people to come into the downtown area, especially during the holiday season," said DeLisa. So, we took it upon ourselves to try to actually raise money for some kind of holiday lighting. Our focus is to try to get a tree of lights."
The Christmas in July fundraising event will be tomorrow night at Atomic Tom's at 196 State St. from 6 until 10. The cost is $25 per person.
There will be entertainment, including a harpist and jazz duo playing Christmas music. There will also be raffles, door prizes, an art auction and food from the Water Street Brewing Company, Lost Dog Café, and Portfolio's.
You can buy tickets at the door or log on to GorgeousWashington.com for more info.
